I enjoyed the first session very much andthought the balance about right. I never formally studied music theory, but I liked the material about the key changes.
Two completely unimportant thoughts about the title. I had heard that it was B's publisher who applied the "Pathetique" title and the composer somewhat reluctantly acquiesced. Second, Dr. Chapman seems to give it a French pronunciation; is that right? As with the later "Les Adieux?" I have always thought of this in German, which does not voice both the "t" and the "h" as we do in English (the "hard" voicing as in them, that and the "soft" voicing as in path, bath and theory). In German, a foreign word, such as the composer's name, would be voiced as two syllables ("Beet-Hoven"). Otherwise, the h is silent (Paht - eh - teak).
