So well said, Pam! I totally agree with you. We had a wide range of members from amateurs to music professionals. For the professionals, his information may be not totally new but good to review it again. For amateurs like me, a lot of findings, especially when Beethoven placed one chord to indicate his direction in the music.

I think Haydn sometimes did a similar shocking modulations, too. I'm not sure how the audience took the surprise, but I suppose it worked out because his music was alreay very popular in his time.
