7.2026 settings for Zoom

With yet another major update, here is what Google recommends for settings for musicians:

To configure Zoom for the best musical performance, you must bypass the platform's default voice-optimization filters. In your Zoom desktop app, open Settings, go to the Audio tab, and uncheck Automatically adjust microphone volume. Under Microphone Modes, select Original sound for musicians to unlock high-fidelity and routing options. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]

Essential Audio Configurations

  • Original Sound: Once enabled in settings, a toggle labeled Original Sound for Musicians will appear at the top-left of your meeting screen. You must click this to turn it "On" for every session. [1, 2]

  • High-Fidelity Music Mode: This disables echo cancellation and raises the audio codec quality to 48kHz, 96Kbps mono / 192Kbps stereo. It is highly recommended if you are on a wired Ethernet connection but can cause stutters on weak Wi-Fi. [1, 2]

  • Use Headphones: To avoid feedback and audio artifacts, always wear headphones instead of using speakers when playing instruments or singing. [1, 2]

  • Echo Cancellation: Leave this enabled unless you are using professional headphones in a highly controlled, quiet environment. [1, 2]

  • Stereo Audio: Check this only if you are using an audio interface with multiple inputs, stereo-capable microphones, or external panning effects. [1, 2]
