Alpharetta Symphony Youth Orchestra Workshop with Met Opera Violinist

Updated: Mar 30, 2023

On April 16, 2023, the Alpharetta Symphony Youth Orchestra will welcome a highly regarded violinist from the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra. Shem Guibbory, who has been a member of the first violin section of the Met Opera since 1992, will conduct a workshop from 5:00-7:00 pm at the Preston Ridge Community Center. Mr. Guibbory will perform and lead an interactive session using the framework of the Bach Chaconne from Partita No. 2 as part of his "Journey of 100" initiative. Then he will present a masterclass, coaching the young musicians on themes from Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake".

This exciting evening is free and open to the public. Mr. Guibbory has been a faculty member of the Bennington Chamber Music Conference for three decades and has also been a faculty member of Summertrios, where several GMG musicians have experienced Mr. Guibbory's coaching first-hand and found it to be transformative.
